What day is this??
Confessions of an Innkeeper:
Today is day 4,327,574 of the quarantine and I don’t know what my name is any more. I stopped seeing in color two weeks ago and I may have acquired a pet cat. It’s equally possible I’m talking to an imaginary cat who isn’t really there because I’m so desperate for conversation with another living being. I’d like to interject at this point that I do not count my family as people I’m desperate to have conversation with. We ran out of things to talk about 3 days in and I have already ranked them in order of first to last if an emergency food shortage occurs and I have to eat somebody to survive. That list may or may not change depending on who has breathed the loudest that particular day. The shadows are long down the silent halls of IBB as I wander through the deserted building. Please. Send. Help. Or wine.
Karen has moved into her garage. She claims it’s to self-quarantine for the safety of her beloved 4 teenagers, husband, and 2 dogs (she calls them Those People), but I think she’s actually turned it into a she shed that she may never leave. The staff at IBB was deeply concerned when inappropriate memes sent to Kelsi went unanswered for a while. We reached out to her husband to make sure she was ok and verified that homeschooling had driven her over the edge. She may never recover. Kasey is posting motivational encouragement for us on social media daily while some of us, who shall remain nameless (ok, it’s ME), have lost all sparks of joy – except for the occasional UPS man sighting with an Amazon package in his hand. I also have to ask myself important questions like when was the last time I washed my hair. We’ve lost all track of Diana at this point and can’t leave our homes to send out a search party.
