We’re in a January state of mind…

Confessions of an Innkeeper:

My name is Michelle and I don’t make “resolutions.”  I prefer to set intentions – not just for the new year, but life in general.  So, each year, I think about who I intend to be as a person.  Intending to do good things seems to be less of a rigid rule and more of a purpose for the next phase of me.  Doors open, as do all the possibilities for the next chapter, and I like walking through open doors.  In 2020, I intend to travel more frequently to local destinations, sightseeing in my own neighborhood.  I also pick a word of the year for fun.  Last year was journey and I’m still deciding for this year but I’ve narrowed it down to My Top Two.  What’s something you intend to do or be this year?

Quote: “What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.”
Vern McLellan

Fun fact:

January is named after Janus, the god of beginnings and transitions in Roman mythology.  While it is on average the coldest month of the year in the Northern hemisphere, it is also the warmest month of the year in the Southern hemisphere.  Does that mean that people in the Southern hemisphere are seeing sweaters at their local department store in the same way the bathing suits are on sale now in Maryland?  Here at IBB we spend the winter months practicing our ninja skills with the thermostat – someone turns it up, someone turns it down – it’s like war of the roses.  There’s no clear winner – yet – as the battle wages on.
