May we please have better days in June?

Confessions of an Innkeeper:

My name is Michelle and sometimes I’m not sure what to say.  I realize that every person who has ever actually met me is reading that sentence and trying not to laugh, but it’s true.  Sometimes I run out of words.  Or the words I think of don’t seem right.  Or enough.  Things are hard right now, in so many ways and in so many places.  Hard and awful and sad and my go-to is usually using my sense of humor but I don’t want to seem glib about any of the hard and awful, so I won’t.  I’ll just say that IBB has been empty of guests for several weeks now and we miss you all.  We hope each and every one of you are somewhere safe and that beyond what is hard and awful in the world right now you see hope and humanity and love to get you through. We’re thinking of you and will be grateful to see you all when we find ourselves on the other side of this.  Not if.  When.

“If you're struggling today, remember that life is worth living and believe that the best is yet to come. Remember that you are loved, you matter, & never forget that there is always hope.”
Quote ~ Germany Kent

Fun fact:

We’ve got a crazy group of people who work at IBB, in case that wasn’t already obvious.  We’ve stayed in touch with our followers with posts on Instagram and Facebook, the blog and book club meetings, really anything we could think of to keep those ties in place.  Among the staff, however, interaction has been insane and I’d expect nothing less.  We’ve had the usual group text, funny memes, etc… but sometimes we like to kick it up a notch.  Like when Karen stands in a completely dark and empty Inn hallway waiting for me to walk downstairs before she jumps out at me like a psycho serial killer.  Or when Marcella has “in the garden” chats with whoever is hanging over the balcony.  Sticky notes left in the office, inappropriate jokes and commiserations of the Covid-19 (pounds we’ve all gained, that is), we try to remember we’re in this together.

If you’re interested in reading our monthly book pick and joining the book club, please send a private message to the https://www.facebook.com/InnBoonsBoro/ page to join our private group, The Innkeeper’s Book Club and we’ll send you an invite.  No special password or secret handshake required, just some book nerds chatting about what they like to read. We’ll have a live chat about the book on the scheduled date.

May staff book pick: Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather WebberThe Innkeeper’s Book Club virtual chat will be held on June 23rd at 6:00pm EST

Sending thoughts of good health, safety, and kindness to you all.

Until next time,
